Silicone rubber seals and gaskets are vital for preventing the flow of liquid and gas

Silicone rubber gaskets and seals are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes and have many different applications. They are widely used in all types of industry, including engineering, aerospace, building and catering, to name a few.

Silicone gaskets and seals can be shaped like letter box shapes, horse shoes and O rings.

Silicone rubber seals and gaskets are required to protect the end product from environmental conditions that it is exposed to during use.

Rubber seals and gaskets protect against solid objects, dust and water. This includes protection against all kinds of water exposure.

A silicone rubber seal or gasket require a high compression to get both faces to fit together securely.

Ask your silicone manufacturer for advice on solving design issues. Silicone rubber gaskets and seals are produced using extrusion methods, punched from sheeting, if the profile is flat, and moulded by compression or injection methods.

This requires specific equipment, from punch tools to moulding compression and injection tools.

The best method to make silicone gaskets depends on the design of and quantities required.

a.) Two pieces Induction Heat Seal covers a wide range of containers, providing a hermetic seal against leaks, contamination and oxidation. Two-piece liners form a fused seal to containers, which must be cut or pierced for removal, leaving an aluminum seal on the container land area.

b.) Two pieces Induction liner is used to seal the opening of a plastic or glass bottle with heat seal coating.

c.) Basically, Liner consists of Backing and Aluminum Seal layer, and those two layers are attached with wax. After capping a container which Induction Liner is inserted, we seal it by using Induction sealer. Then, attached layer with wax is absorbed in paper board of the backing, leaving Sealing layer including Aluminum to be sealed and separating Backing layer in a cap.

d) Application: Drugs - Pharmaceuticals - Windshield Washer Solution - Anti freeze, Motor Oils, Gasoline Additives, Household cleaner, Insecticides, Herbicides at Screw cap, One touch cap, etc.

e) Composition note: 2 PC induction seal can be composed with verious materials or plastic substrates and adding different backing materials as this should be sealable at PE,PET,PVC, GLASS, PP, PS etc.

Top Tips To Turn Your School Green

Most of us have adapted to living a more eco friendly lifestyle, a few years ago we wouldn't have thought anything about the amount of plastic bags we use at the supermarket or throwing our cans out with the rest of the rubbish. Now most supermarkets offer incentives for reusing shopping bags and most council's in the UK provide and collect household recycling boxes.

Teaching our children how to live a more eco friendly life style can be one of the biggest steps we can take for the future of our planet. If our children learn these things as they grow up it will become second nature to them so introducing small steps at school can ensure they grow up living a greener lifestyle.

If you're not using it, turn it off. Lighting is going to be one of the biggest causes of energy expenditure in school buildings. If you know the classroom is going to be empty for the duration of the next lesson or throughout a break, turn the lights off. If you don't already, start replacing dead light bulbs in lamps and energy saving light bulbs, replace florescent tubes with compact florescent lamps where possible which last much longer and use up less electricity. This solution can also be applied to ICT, turning computers off and the monitors can save a considerable amount of energy which will be reflected in your schools energy bills too, leaving an appliance on standby uses almost as much power as leaving it on in the first place. If your classroom has any taps, make sure they don't leak and teach your pupils about water conservation, if you do have a leaking tap, leave a container under the drip to collect the water and use it for something else. Drafts between door frames and window frames can be prevented with draft strips which can also provide significant savings on your schools energy bills. These are all simple things that you can get your pupils involved in; encourage them to point out if you leave a projector screen on standby or a leaking tap dripping as they will then take this philosophy home with them too.

Encourage your pupils who have a packed lunch to bring in a waste-less pack lunch, wrap sandwiches in paper bags instead of cling film or tin foil, if they do use cling film or tin foil encourage them to save it and use it for the next day's packed lunch. Instead of having store brought snacks, maybe they could bring in homemade snacks or even better fruit. Although this may not be practical for some parents maybe your school could introduce having a waste less lunch day just once a week? Make sure any utensils used are reusable rather than plastic so they don't need to be thrown away on a daily basis.

3 tips when purchasing pond liner

Pond liners can be made to fit practically any sized pond and there are a number of choices when it comes to choosing your pond liner, many of them come with a life time warranty and can be very cost effective.

The types of liners available on the market are:-

1)  PVC – This is a budget option pond liner which can be purchase in 0.5mm and 0.8mm thickness.  A PVC pond liner can be folded and taped to fit your pond and is suitable for smaller ponds, it is advised that you use pond underlay with your PVC liner to ensure that it lasts as long as possible.  This type of pond liner does actually come with a lifetime warranty but this will be subject to correct usage and care.  PVC pond liners are available in a number of sizes but these sizes are restricted to a maximum of 25m X 12m in the 0.5mm, and 25m X 10m in the 0.8mm, it is not recommended that you try to exceed these sizes by attaching 2 pieces together, if you do require a larger liner then it would be advisable to choose either a Greenseal or Firestone rubber pond liner.

2) Greenseal – This liner is probably the closest to Butyl, as Butyl pond liners are not often an option anymore due to the import costs other liners have been developed to take their place and the Greenseal pond liner is really the next best thing.  The Greenseal pond liner can be purchased in thickness of 0.75mm or 1mm and is a textured rubber pond liner that is easy to fold and shape to fit your pond.

Also with a lifetime warranty (subject to care and usage)  this liner is available in 8m width X up to 40m length and you can purchase 2 sizes and attach them together if you require a larger size.  It is still recommended that you use pond liner underlay, this is simply to protect your liner from any objects which may protrude from the soil beneath.

3)  Firestone – Available in 1mm thickness this liner has a smoother rubber texture and although it can still be folded, it may be more difficult to position than the 0.75mm Greenseal simply due to how thick it is.  Although this is the toughest pond liner in the market place it is still recommended that a pond liner underlay is used.  The Firestone pond liner also has a lifetime warranty subject to care and usage and is available in 15.24m width and up to 30.48m in length.

Keep in mind though that if you are unsure where exactly the leak is you really shouldn't not just let the water drain as if it is lower in the pond liner then you could risk killing any fish you have in your pond.  If you do not know where the leak it is recommended that you filter the pond water into a holding tank and also transfer you fish.  The pond liner then can still be repaired in the same way as mentioned earlier and if you do find that you have to drain the entire pond then it might also be a good idea to do any required pond maintenance whilst you are there.
